Here are some nearby Memorial Day events.

New City: A parade down Main Street sponsored by American Legion Post 1682 starts at Collyer Avenue at 10 a.m. and ends at the courthouse.

Pearl River: The parade begins at 10:15 a.m. on North Middletown Road. The marchers head south to East Central Avenue and then down East Central Avenue to Braunsdorf Park. Guest speaker is Pearl River resident Paul Crowe, a U.S. Army Combat Veteran who served in Vietnam. Event hosted by John H. Secor American Legion Post 329 of Pearl River.

Nanuet: A service at 11 a.m. will take place at the Veterans Monument near the train station. Hosted by American Legion Naurashank Post 974, Jewish War Veterans and Nanuet Fire Department.

West Nyack: The Nanuet-West Nyack Rotary's Memorial Day parade starts at noon, from Strawtown Road to West Nyack hamlet green.

Spring Valley: At 1 p.m. in Memorial Park, the Spring Valley American Legion Mascarella Post #199 and the Village of Spring Valley will be hosting their annual Memorial Day observance. All residents of the village are invited to honor those that have served our country. There will be representatives of the U.S. Armed Forces in attendance, as well as the customary Posting and Retirement of the Military Colors. Music will be provided by the East Ramapo Marching Band and light refreshments will be served.
